应用
C12-NBD-sphingomyelin has been used as a substrate to test substrate specificity of neutral ceramidase orthologue encoded by AsahA gene.
生化/生理作用
Sphingomyelin (SM) is produced from phosphatidylcholine and ceramide on the cell surface and in lumen of the Golgi. SM′s high packing density and affinity to sterols form a rigid barrier to the extracellular environment. SM is also involved in the formation of lipid rafts in cell membranes, which perform important functions in signal transduction and membrane trafficking.
