这种缓冲液应用广泛,可用于在细胞培养基、基于蛋白的缓冲配方和电泳缓冲液中维持环境稳定。其重要性也见于抗体、多肽、蛋白质、血液成分和生长因子的纯化过程。MES缓冲液也是毛细管电色谱的良好选择,具有很低的离子迁移率。重要的是,它可作为二甲胂酸盐和非两性离子缓冲液(如柠檬酸盐和苹果酸盐)等有毒试剂的更安全的替代品。在各种实验环境中,MES缓冲液也用于精细调节生长培养基的pH值,稳定酶溶液,并可作为PAGE电泳缓冲液的成分。

应用

MES已被用作洗脱缓冲液组分,可从α2-巨球蛋白亲和柱上洗脱血浆。在抗体与微粒结合过程中,这种成分用作活化缓冲液。在创建创建用于病原体检测的微流集成表面等离振子共振(SPR)平台的过程中,MES可用于微通道官能化。

    The amount of water/moisture for MES (M3671) is tested by Karl Fisher and meets a specification of less than 1%. The other MES Hydrates offered have a specification of less than 9%.

    We test the solubility of Prod. No. M3671 at 20 grams in 80 mL of water. A clear, colorless solution is obtained. This concentration is not necessarily the upper solubility limit of MES in water.

  5. What is the pH of a solution of Product M3671, MES - low moisture?

    The pH of a 0.5 M solution in water should be between 2.5 and 4.0.

  6. Is Product M3671, MES - low moisture, autoclavable?

    Autoclaving is not recommended for any sulfonic acid buffer solution. Sterilization of a MES buffer solution can be accomplished by filtering it through a 0.2 micron filter.

  7. How does one prepare a buffer using Product M3671, MES - low moisture, free acid?

    A buffer using MES free acid can be prepared by titrating the free acid with sodium hydroxide to the desired pH. Alternatively, volumes of equimolar MES free acid and sodium MES can be mixed to attain the desired pH.
