FBXL4 (F-box and leucine-rich repeat 4 protein) belongs to the F-box family of proteins. It is a mitochondrial protein, essential for OXPHOS (oxidative phosphorylation) proficiency. It consists of a leucine-rich repeat domain, that is involved in protein-protein interactions.

FBXL4 (F-box and leucine-rich repeat 4 protein) participates in phosphorylation-dependent ubiquitination and/or G protein receptor coupling. It also plays a role in controlling bioenergetic homeostasis and mitochondrial DNA maintenance. Mutations in FBXL4 can cause early-onset mitochondrial encephalomyopathy.
