为满足生物技术和疫苗制造的需要而开发，该培养基支持悬浮培养物中快速的初始细胞生长和高水平的蛋白表达。它也支持高细胞密度和维持这些密度的活细胞为长期导致生产力提高。在分批培养系统中已经实现了每毫升超过 8×106 个细胞的细胞密度。已观察到每个细胞的蛋白质生产率增加高达 500%。
