Tetrachloroethylene is a chlorinated ethylene compound commonly used as a dry cleaning and degreasing solvent.[1] It is a groundwater contaminant, which has adverse effects on human health due to its potential toxicity and carcinogenicity.[2]

应用

Tetrachloroethylene may be used as an extraction solvent for the determination of oils and grease in water samples using the Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy technique.[3] It may be used as an analytical reference standard for the quantification of the analyte in biological fluids using headspace solid-phase micro extraction-capillary gas chromatography with electron capture detection.[4]
