一般描述
环辛四烯 (COT) 是一种非芳香 4n π共轭体系，基态下具有非平面的桶形结构和势能面。
环辛四烯是一个 8p 电子系统，如果 p 电子离域，则具有三重态基态。它是反芳香的，因此非常不稳定，且具有高反应性。它采用非平面船形结构，通过交替的单键和双键获得稳定性，因此其性能与聚烯烃类似。
应用
- 用于合成硅表面的高有机薄膜，以改善其化学和物理性能。
- 用于液态有机染料激光器。
- 用作三重态猝灭剂以减少染料闪烁。
COT可以通过两个侧链基团进行功能化修饰，可用作可充电电池的活性负极材料。将COT与碳分子融合起来可以开发出具有高容量和电压的有机正极。
