一般描述

Methanol (carbinol or methyl alcohol or wood alcohol) is a primary aliphatic alcohol miscible in water. It′s a polar solvent used in many organic synthesis reactions. Recently, it has been used in direct methanol fuel cell (DMFC) technology and in the production of gasoline, olefins, and hydrocarbons.

应用

Methanol can be used in the:
  • Preparation of methyl N-phenyl carbamate using urea and aniline.
  • Preparation of biodiesel from rapeseed oil using metal oxide (catalyst).
  • Silanization of multi-walled carbon nanotubes.
