Clone 1I9 is a ZooMAb^® rabbit recombinant monoclonal antibody that specifically detects Monocarboxylate transporter 8 (SLC16A2). It targets an epitope within 24 amino acids from the N-terminal, cytoplasmic domain.

Quality Control Testing

Evaluated by Western Blotting in HEK293T cell lysate.

Western Blotting Analysis: A 1:1,000 dilution of this antibody detected MCT8/SLC16A2 in HEK293T cell lysate.

Tested Applications

Western Blotting Analysis: A 1:1,000 dilution from a representative lot detected MCT8/SLC16A2 in RAW264.7 cell lysates.

Immunohistochemistry (Paraffin) Analysis: A 1:100 dilution from a representative lot detected MCT8/SLC16A2 in Human kidney tissue sections.

Immunocytochemistry Analysis: A 1:100 dilution from a representative lot detected MCT8/SLC16A2 in HEK293 cells.

Affinity Binding Assay: A representative lot of this antibody bound MCT8/SLC16A2 peptide with a KD of 9.2 x 10-7 in an affinity binding assay.

Monocarboxylate transporter 8 (UniProt: P36021; also known as MCT 8, Monocarboxylate transporter 7, Solute carrier family 16 member 2, X-linked PEST-containing transporter) is encoded by the SLC16A2 (also known as MCT7, MCT8, XPCT) gene (Gene ID: 6567) in human. MCT8 is a multi-pass membrane protein with seven cytoplasmic domains, twelve transmembrane domains, and six extracellular domains. It is highly expressed in the liver and heart. In the adult brain tissue, its expression is largely confined to the endothelial cells of the blood-brain barrier. It serves as a specific thyroid hormone transmembrane transporter that mediates both uptake and efflux of thyroid hormones across the cell membrane independently of pH or a Na+ gradient. Its major substrates are the iodothyronines T3 and T4. It is an important mediator of thyroid hormone transport, especially T3, through the blood-brain barrier. Purified recombinant rabbit monoclonal antibody IgG, lyophilized in PBS, 5% Trehalose, normal appearance a coarse or translucent resin. The PBS/trehalose components in the ZooMAb formulation can have the appearance of a semi-solid (bead like gel) after lyophilization. This is a normal phenomenon. Please follow the recommended reconstitution procedure in the data sheet to dissolve the semi-solid, bead-like, gel-appearing material. Recommend storage of lyophilized product at 2-8°C; Before reconstitution, micro-centrifuge vials briefly to spin down material to bottom of the vial; Reconstitute each vial by adding 25 µL of filtered lab grade water or PBS; Reconstituted antibodies can be stored at 2-8°C, or -20°C for long term storage. Avoid repeated freeze-thaws.
