Kinesin-1 heavy chain (UniProt: P33176; also known as Conventional kinesin heavy chain, Ubiquitous kinesin heavy chain, UKHC, KIF5B) is encoded by the KIF5B (also known as KNS, KNS1) gene (Gene ID: 3799) in human. Kinesin-1 is an abundant, ATP-dependent motor protein that moves along microtubule filaments. It participates in a number of important intracellular transport processes. Kinesin is a heterotetramer, comprised of 2 heavy chains and 2 light chains. The heavy chains dimerize to form an elongated stalk with 2 amino-terminal globular domains (motor domains) at one end and the light chains at the other end. Kinesin can pull a cellular cargo along a microtubule, slide one microtubule relative to another, or even remodel the microtubule cytoskeleton through regulation of microtubule dynamics. It plays a key role in mitosis and in the trafficking of organelles and vesicles. The Kinesin heavy chain is shown to move its cytoplasmic cargo toward the plus ends of microtubules. KIF5B is ubiquitous in its distribution and is shown to be uniformly distributed between soma and neurites in hippocampal neurons. It participates in the normal distribution of mitochondria and lysosomes in the cell and can induce formation of neurite-like membrane protrusions in non-neuronal cells in a Zinc Finger FYVE-Type Containing 27 (ZFYVE27)-dependent manner. It also regulates centrosome and nuclear positioning during mitotic entry. During the G2 phase of the cell cycle, it is reported to antagonize dynein function and drives the separation of nuclei and centrosomes. It is also required for anterograde axonal transportation of mitogen-activated protein kinase 8 interacting protein 3 (MAPK8IP3) and is essential for MAPK8IP3 function in axon elongation. Purified recombinant rabbit monoclonal antibody IgG, lyophilized in PBS, 5% Trehalose, normal appearance a coarse or translucent resin. The PBS/trehalose components in the ZooMAb formulation can have the appearance of a semi-solid (bead like gel) after lyophilization. This is a normal phenomenon. Please follow the recommended reconstitution procedure in the data sheet to dissolve the semi-solid, bead-like, gel-appearing material. The resulting antibody solution is completely stable and functional as proven by full functional testing. Contains no biocide or preservatives, such as azide, or any animal by-products. Larger pack sizes provided as multiples of 25 μL.

Avoid repeated freeze-thaws.
