一般描述
Chemical structure: peptide
Fengycin is a lipopeptide complex which is synthesized by Bacillus subtilis strain F-29-3. It is an antifungal compound, and is made up of two components namely, fengycin A and fengycin B. Fengycin A contains 1 D-Ala, 1 L-Ile, 1 L-Pro, 1 D-allo-Thr, 3 L-Glx, 1 D-Tyr, 1 L-Tyr, 1 D-Orn, whereas fengycin B contains D-Val instead of D-Ala.
应用
Fengycin may be used for the sterilization of E. coli., and for the inactivation of spores of Bacillus cereus.
生化/生理作用
Fengycin shows antifungal properties against filamentous fungi, but has no action against yeast and bacteria. Certain unsaturated fatty acids facilitate the antifungal property, whereas sterols, phospholipids and oleic acid act as antagonists. It produces morphological abnormalities in fungi including curling, bulging and empyting of hyphae. Thus, it mainly functions through its effects on the plasma membrane.

Environmental microbiology, 9(4), 1084-1090 (2007-03-16)
Multiple strains of Bacillus spp. were demonstrated to stimulate plant defence responses. However, very little is known about the nature of molecular determinants secreted by these Gram-positive bacteria that are responsible for the elicitation of the induced systemic resistance (ISR)

Fengycin is an antifungal lipopeptide complex produced by Bacillus subtilis strain F-29-3. It inhibits filamentous fungi but is ineffective against yeast and bacteria. The inhibition is antagonized by sterols, phospholipids and oleic acid, whereas two other unsaturated fatty acids increase
Optimization of sterilization of Escherichia coli in milk by surfactin and fengycin using a response surface method.

In the context of biocontrol of plant diseases, the three families of Bacillus lipopeptides - surfactins, iturins and fengycins were at first mostly studied for their antagonistic activity for a wide range of potential phytopathogens, including bacteria, fungi and oomycetes.
