General description
Interleukin-21 (IL-21) is a pleiotropic cytokine. It belongs to the common γ-chain cytokines with broad pleiotropic actions. This gene is located on human chromosome 4q27.

Biochem/physiol Actions
Interleukin-21 (IL-21) regulates chronic viral infection, thereby plays a major role for immune responses in a mouse model of HBV (hepatitis B virus) infection. This gene is linked to celiac disease, rheumatoid arthritis (RA), type 1 diabetes mellitus (type 1 DM) and psoriatic arthritis. IL-21 has the ability to promote maturation and increase the cytotoxicity of CD8+ T cells and natural killer (NK) cells.
The antibody pair provided in this kit recognizes Human Interleukin-21.
