原卟啉IX使血红素呈红色,是血液中的主要卟啉。在存在原卟啉原IX氧化酶的条件下,其由原卟啉原IX合成。
原卟啉IX属于卟啉家族,是一类四吡咯。它是氯高铁血红素的无铁形式,并且天然具有两亲性质。它是生物合成途径中血红素的前体。
应用
原卟啉IX已被用于:
- 作为原卟啉测定的标准品
- 荧光光谱分析中
- 处理细胞培养中的细胞以研究血红素介导的铁转运蛋白1的转录
可激活可溶性鸟苷酸环化酶。
生化/生理作用
原卟啉IX可以穿透人体红细胞并帮助它们释放氧气。它可与肌红蛋白和血红蛋白形成复合物。它可用作癌症光动力疗法的光敏剂。
原卟啉IX在肿瘤细胞之中存在代谢异常,因此含量水平相对于正常细胞有所升高。
