吡维胺盐水合物在急变期慢性髓性白血病 (BP-CML) 和人胚胎肾细胞 (HEK293) 中可作为酪蛋白激酶α (CK1α) 的激动剂。它还可用作维尔姆斯瘤中的β-连环蛋白的抑制剂。

生化/生理作用

恩波吡维铵是一种有效的雄激素受体抑制剂。雄激素受体（AR）是一种核激素受体/转录因子，存在于细胞质中，可被睾丸激素和二氢睾丸激素激活。AR抑制剂对前列腺癌具有潜在的治疗作用；已经发现了其竞争性抑制剂和化学去势方法，但是两种疗法都具有不良的副作用和/或抗药性。通过筛选非竞争性抑制剂，发现了恩波吡维铵 可以作为AR抑制剂。与竞争性抑制剂相比，该化合物不会与AR的配体结合域结合或阻止AR占据DNA，但它能够通过独特的信号传导机制来抑制AR依赖性基因表达。它比传统的竞争性AR拮抗剂更有效，并且与其他AR抑制剂具有协同作用。
