The Boron Assay Kit provides a convenient and reliable means to measure boron. In the assay borate complexes with azomethine-H to create a colored compound that can be measured at A420 nm. This assay can be used with a variety of samples and is simple, sensitive, and adaptable to high-throughput screening.

General description

Boron is an indispensable micronutrient crucial for promoting plant growth. It can be naturally occurring in water or introduced into water bodies through industrial waste discharges. This micronutrient plays a vital role in maintaining the structural integrity of plant cell walls, cell membranes, and reproductive tissues. Moreover, it contributes to the synthesis and reinforcement of plant cell walls and aids in the efficient uptake of potassium and phosphorous in various plant species. While boron is naturally abundant in soil as a borate mineral, the amount readily available to plants is often limited. Consequently, boron deficiency ranks as the second most prevalent micronutrient deficiency among crop plants. To ensure that plant boron levels remain within a healthy range, soil supplementation with fertilizers and additives is frequently necessary. Failure to regulate boron levels, whether through deficiency or excess, can substantially reduce crop yields.Additionally, boron′s significance extends to maintaining the equilibrium in saltwater aquariums. Inadequate boron levels can impede the growth of corals and calcareous algae, while excessive levels may lead to an accumulation of boric acid, known for its bactericidal properties, potentially harming essential bacteria. Furthermore, in the field of biotechnology, sodium borohydride finds common application in antibody conjugation. However, it typically requires removal from the final product, especially in the case of therapeutic antibodies, to ensure product purity and safety.
