Catalase Assay Kit

The new Catalase Assay Kit, MAK531, is now available! Catalase is a ubiquitous antioxidant enzyme that is present in nearly all living organisms. It functions to catalyze the decomposition of hydrogen peroxide (H₂0₂) to water and oxygen.

The kit is suitable for the determination of catalase activity in a variety of biological samples.

In the assay, catalase first reacts with H₂0₂ to produce water and oxygen, the unconverted H₂0₂ reacts with the probe to produce a product, which can be measured colorimetrically at A₅₇₀ nm or fluorometrically at λ_Ex = 535 nm/λ_Em = 587 nm. Catalase activity is reversely proportional to the signal. The kit can detect 1 μU or less of catalase activity in samples.
