生化/生理作用

Protein kinase A (PKA) is a mediator of cAMP (cyclic adenosine monophosphate) and contains two regulatory and two catalytic subunits. Mutations in PRKACA (protein kinase cAMP-activated catalytic subunit α) are associated with Cushing′s syndrome. PRKACA encodes two splice variants, Cα1 and Cα2. Cα1 is widely expressed and Cα2 is restricted to the sperm cells.

The intracellular second messenger cAMP affects cell physiology by directly interacting with effector molecules that include cyclic nucleotide-gated ion channels, cAMP-regulated G protein exchange factors, and cAMP-dependent protein kinases (PKA). Two catalytic subunits, Calpha and Cbeta, are expressed in the

We recently identified a high prevalence of mutations affecting the catalytic (Cα) subunit of protein kinase A (PKA) in cortisol-secreting adrenocortical adenomas. The two identified mutations (Leu206Arg and Leu199_Cys200insTrp) are associated with increased PKA catalytic activity, but the underlying mechanisms

The two variants of the α-form of the catalytic (C) subunit of protein kinase A (PKA), designated Cα1 and Cα2, are encoded by the PRKACA gene. Whereas Cα1 is ubiquitous, Cα2 expression is restricted to the sperm cell. Cα1 and
