Eukaryotic initiation factor 2A (eIF2A) helps in the translation of hepatitis C viral mRNA under stress conditions. At low [Mg⁺⁺] , eIF2A helps to generate 80S preinitiation complexes that are sensitive to puromycin and the production of polyphenylalanine, directed by poly(U).
