General description

The gene KIF9 (kinesin family member 9) is mapped to human chromosome 3p21.31. It encodes for a microtubule-associated protein. KIF9 belongs to the kinesin 9 family of proteins and is a Gem-binding protein. It is present in brain, kidney and primary human macrophages.

Application

We also provide Prestige Antibodies® protocols and other useful information.

Biochem/physiol Actions

KIF9 (kinesin family member 9) participates in Gem-mediated mitotic activities. It controls spindle dynamics and absence of KIF9 causes spindle abnormalities. KIF9 protein also interacts with flotillin-2 and this interaction is required for podosomal matrix degradation in primary human macrophages.
