ISY1 is a subunit of NineTeen complex consisting of an E3 ubiquitin ligase homolog Prp19p required for splicing. It plays an essential role in splicing. The complex directly binds to the ATPase Prp16p to maintain the proper pre-mRNA splicing. Isy1p binds to U6 snRNA (small nuclear RNAs) and performs in the spliceosomal conformational step.
