GNRH2 (Gonadotropin-releasing hormone 2) is a 2.1kb protein, highly expressed in the kidney, bone marrow, and prostate. Althought it is prominently present outside the brain, it has also been found in the midbrain of many vertebrates.

GNRH2 (Gonadotropin-releasing hormone 2) regulates reproduction by transmitting instructions to pituitary gonadotropes from hypothalamus. The GNRH generally stimulates pituitary gland for the secretion of gonadotropin, which in turn activates the gonads. It functions as a neuromodulator unit for the K⁺ channel regulation and sexual arousal stimulation.
