Phosphatidylinositol 4-kinase type 2-β is an enzyme encoded by the PI4K2B gene in humans. It is referred as PIK42B and PI4KIIB. It acts as a key component in early signaling events. It is a key component in early T cell activation signaling cascades. It is one of the member of the phosphatidylinositol pathway. The gene is a strong functional candidate that is targeted by lithium for therapeutic effect in bipolar disorder.
