Application
Histone H2A human has been used as a neutrophil extracellular trap (NET) to study its effects on the membrane integrity and viability of macrophages (MFS) and dendritic cells (DCS). It has also been used in far-western blot analysis for protein identification.
Biochem/physiol Actions
Histones modulate the accessibility of DNA during transcription, DNA replication, DNA repair, and recombination. N and C terminal tails undergo post-translational modifications (PTMs) altering DNA wrapping and chromatin regulation.
General description
Histones are highly basic chromatin proteins. They tightly pack and organize eukaryotic DNA to form nucleosomes. A nucleosome comprises an octameric core histone made of a tetramer of histones H3 and H4 with two dimers of histones H2A and H2B. The 147 DNA base pairs are wrapped around the histone complex. H2A consists of a C-terminal tail extending out of the nucleosome core particle.

Histones are highly basic chromatin proteins that tightly package and order eukaryotic DNA into nucleosomes. While the atomic structure of the nucleosomes has been determined, the three-dimensional structure of DNA-free histones remains unresolved. Here, we combine tandem nonlinear and linear

Neutrophils are one the earliest, crucial innate defenses against innumerable pathogens. Their main microbicidal activities include phagocytosis and degranulation, with many pharmacologically active molecules contributing to inflammation. Recently, a novel antimicrobial mechanism was discovered; the Neutrophil Extracelullar Traps (NETs) formed
