Biochem/physiol Actions

半乳凝素(Galectin)属糖结合蛋白家族。这类蛋白在富含N-乙酰乳糖胺复合糖的糖识别域(CRD)和特异性上具有相似性。半乳凝素与糖类的结合可调控细胞增殖、死亡和迁移,参与癌症发生发展。半乳凝素8是一种分泌型蛋白质,两个CRD结构域需要同时激活才能调节细胞黏附。它可与整合素形成复合物,启动整合素介导的信号级联放大。与之相反的是,过量蛋白会通过与整合素相互作用而负性调节细胞黏附。这些半乳凝素8相关信号有助于确定可进行细胞黏附和迁移的区域。它可能参与肿瘤转化。
本抗体与半乳凝素3和半乳凝素9的交叉反应性较低。

General description

半乳凝素特异性结合β-半乳糖苷。目前已发现15种哺乳动物半乳凝素。半乳凝素8含有两个由短肽连接的CRD结构。
抗-半乳凝素8(小鼠IgM亚型)单克隆抗体来自于小鼠骨髓瘤细胞和重组大鼠半乳凝素8免疫的BALB/c小鼠脾细胞融合而VA-11.25杂交瘤细胞。半乳凝素属于糖类结合蛋白家族。就这一家族的蛋白而言,半乳凝素8的独特性在于通过同一基因编码出多种形式的蛋白。
