一般描述
由 92 个氨基酸 α 链组成的糖蛋白激素，与 LH、FSH 和 TSH 相同； 和一个独特的 149 个氨基酸 β 链。由绒毛膜组织产生，负责在妊娠早期维持黄体。也由滋养层细胞肿瘤产生，其特征是游离 hCG β-链升高和高糖基化 hCG。
生化/生理作用
人绒毛膜促性腺激素（hCG）可用作 PMSG 的替代品，以诱导实验动物排卵。 当通过静脉内（静脉注射），腹膜内（腹腔注射）或皮下（皮下注射）方法将 hCG 注射到实验动物中时，每个动物和每千克体重的 50％ 动物的有效剂量（ED50）用括号括起来如下：
