General description

Bone morphogenetic proteins (BMPs) are the members of the TGF-β superfamily and are identified as the critical factors for formation of bone and cartilage, hematopoietic cell formation and mesoderm patterning. Apart from this BMPs have immune regulatory functions. The cellular effects of BMPs are mediated by a heteromeric complex composed of type I and type II receptors. Among the BMPs, BMP-4 has major role in mammalian hematopoiesis, formation of mesoderm, myogenesis and differentiation of embryonic stem cells. BMP-4 signaling involves activation of major pathways such as Hedgehog and Wnt signaling.. Monoclonal Anti-BMP-4 recognizes human BMP-4. The antibody shows ~5% cross reactivity with recombinant human BMP-2, recombinant mouse BMP RIA, and recombinant mouse BMP-RIB.

Immunogen

recombinant monomeric human BMP-4 expressed in NSO cells.

Application

The antibody is suitable for neutralization assays at a working concentration of 1-3 μg/ml (ND50).

Biochem/physiol Actions

The antibody shows approximately 5% cross-reactivity with recombinant human BMP-2, mouse BMP RIA, and mouse BMP RIB.

Physical form

Lyophilized from a 0.2 μm filtered solution in in phosphate buffered saline with 5% trehalose.

Preparation Note

Purified using protein G.
