一般描述

产气消化球菌（Peptococcus aerogenes）的无细胞提取物以NAD依赖性方式将谷氨酸代谢为α-羟基戊二酸。它是细菌的乙醛酸代谢过程中形成的中间体。

应用

L-α-羟基戊二酸二钠盐适用于收集缓冲液，用于提高缺氧诱导因子-1 α（HIF-1 α）的回收率，HIF-1 α是人肿瘤的缺氧标志物。它也适用于放射性标记的5mC-5hmC转化试验，以研究2-HG对甲基羟化酶TET家族的影响。

生化/生理作用

罕见的L-2-HG脱氢酶缺陷可引起L-α-羟基戊二酸积累，导致代谢紊乱L-2-羟基戊二酸尿症（L-2HGA）。L-2HGA与神经元缺陷、脑白质营养不良以及脑肿瘤风险增加有关。
