高铁血红素可用于研究血红素加氧酶1 (HO-1)的表达和抑制以及HO-1的活性。 血凝素是生长流感嗜血杆菌所必需的“X因子”。

      Hemin can be dissolved in DMSO at 1 mM. This product should be soluble in 1.4 M ammonium hydroxide (50 mg/ml) with 5 minutes of heating at 95 °C, yielding a dark brown solution.  A stock solution of 0.25% hemin in 50% triethanolamine can be made.
