胆钙化醇是维生素D3的一种失活形式,它在经历各种水平的羟基化后可形成活性的维生素D3类似物。 1α-羟基维生素D3(α-骨化醇)是一种合成类似物,其可代谢为1,25-二羟胆钙化醇(维生素D3的生物活性形式)。胆钙化醇的其他类似物可由不同的羟基化产生。 25-二羟胆钙化醇是维生素D3的主要循环形式,是1α,25-二羟胆钙化醇的生理前体。该转化由25-羟基维生素D3 1-α-羟化酶(VD3 1A羟化酶)——也称为细胞色素p450 27B1 (CYP27B1)——进行催化。
