四氟硼酸可用作各种碳水化合物的保护和去保护反应中的催化剂。它可参与4-磺酸苯基重氮四氟硼酸盐的合成，该化合物是制备磺化石墨烯（SG）所必需的。
应用
在不存在金属催化剂的情况下，四氟硼酸溶液可用作将芳族卤代炔烃水合成α-卤代甲基酮过程的催化剂。在脂肪酸制备过程中，它也可以用于环氧化大豆油（ESBO）的开环步骤。
