一般描述

甲酚红(Cresol Red),又名邻甲酚红,属于酞和磺酞类染料。在pH 0.2-1.8之间,甲酚红由橙色变为黄色,在pH 7.0-8.8之间,由黄色变为紫色。在碱性溶液中,甲酚红为亲水性双阴离子。双阴离子形式为小分子,呈紫色,具有比黄色羟醌形式更大的共轭结构。

应用

甲酚红广泛用作pH指示剂,用于微生物培养基等的日常pH监测。此外,甲酚红也适合用作PCR反应体系的试剂组分。甲酚红还可用作DNA、RNA(琼脂糖)和蛋白(聚丙烯酰胺)凝胶电泳的示踪染料。
