该引物由15聚体寡核苷酸组成，该寡核苷酸在每个位置均有胸苷（T）。 该寡核苷酸通过 HPLC 纯化、脱盐，并以锂盐冻干粉的形式提供。 p(dT)15 引物的 5′ 末端没有进行磷酸化。Oligo(dT)N 生成全长cDNA。如果模板含有在内部拉伸的oligo（A），则引物可能会与之结合，从而导致引导错误（mis priming）和非全长的转录本。
