Features and Benefits

pH-dependent fluorescent live cell probe for visualization of endocytosis from the early endosome stage.
Fluorescent Dye-Dextran Conjugates or membrane staining reagents are used to visualize endocytosis. However, they have limitations in observing the dynamics of endosomes in live cells in terms of precision of staining or retentivity of reagent. SCT271 is a different kind of reagent that overcomes these limitations.

General description

BioTracker Green Endocytosis Live Cell Probe is a pH-dependent fluorescent dye that localizes to the vesicle membrane. Visualization of endocytosis using SCT271 is a more direct method than fluorescent analogs, and allows visualization of endocytosis.

Endocytosis is a cellular process that describes macromolecules being taken up through the plasma membrane-derived endosome vesicle. The endocytic pathway contributes to maintaining intracellular homeostasis by transporting various nutrients into the cell and shuttling unneeded components to the lysosome, which functions as a waste disposal system. It has been demonstrated that disruption of endocytosis is related to some neurodegenerative dysfunction and immune diseases. Investigation of the endocytic pathway is therefore of increasing interest to cell biologists and in diverse disease disciplines.

Other Notes

This live cell probe is a non membrane-permeable molecule that fluoresces on internalization into mammalian cells,enabling direct observation of the membrane of internalized vesicles.
