General description
M.W. 23,000 (monomer); 115,000 (pentamer).
Native C-reactive protein highly purified from human serum. CRP is a major acute-phase plasma protein that is dramatically elevated in patients with acute-phase conditions. Composed of five identical noncovalently linked subunits. Exhibits Ca2+-dependent binding to a variety of substrates. Important in diagnosis of rheumatoid arthritis. Suitable for immunological studies. In purified states and in plasma the monomeric form (M.W. ~21 kDa) aggregates as a cyclic pentamer. Intended for use as a calibration standard for assays of CRP, for structural and functional studies, and as an antigen for production of antisera.Calibrated by electroimmunoassay against WHO reference standard or equivalent.
No reaction in ODD and Laurell electroimmunoassay against polyvalent antiserum to normal human serum, antiserum to pooled effusion fluids and monospecific antiserum to human IgG.

It is generally assumed that C-reactive protein (CRP) induces synthesis of tissue factor (TF) in monocytic cells, thereby potentially initiating intravascular blood coagulation. We aimed to elucidate the mechanism of CRP-induced TF expression in monocytes and monocyte-derived macrophages (MDMs) in

The classic acute-phase reactant C-reactive protein (CRP) plays an important role in innate immunity. Specific CRP receptors have been described on white blood cells and were further characterized as Fcgamma receptors I and II. Here, we used biotinylated, highly purified

In most of the array formats, reporter molecules are used in multistep detection of the protein interactions. Among the few existing label-free detection approaches, surface plasmon resonance

This study examined the hypothesis that oral contraceptives (OC) influence the production of thermoregulatory cytokines, i.e. interleukin-6 (IL-6), soluble IL-6 receptor (sIL-6R), soluble glycoprotein 130 (s-gp130) and leptin, and that OC-induced changes in oral temperature (T(oral)) are associated with changes
