This MQuant® Nitrate test (formally MColortest®) is suitable for the colorimetric determination using the easy to use color card. Method
Nitrate ions are reduced to nitrite ions that react in acidic solution with sulfanilic acid to form a diazonium salt. This reacts with a benzoic acid derivative to form an orange-yellow azo dye. The nitrate concentration is measured semiquantitatively by allocating the color to a value on a reference scale.
