一般描述
该基因可编码DNA结合蛋白的叉头蛋白亚群成员。这些肝细胞核因子是白蛋白和运甲状腺素蛋白等肝脏独有转录本的转录激活剂，且与染色质相互作用。小鼠中的类似蛋白家族成员参与代谢调节以及胰腺和肝脏的分化。该基因与青少年发病的成人型糖尿病病例有关。已经鉴定出了与该基因编码相同蛋白质的两个转录变异体。
