General description

CoREST基因编码调节神经特异性基因表达所需的功能性辅阻遏物。REST（RE1沉默转录因子1）可以通过组蛋白脱乙酰基酶募集施加主动抑制或使用独特的功能复合物进行长期基因沉默来介导神经外限制。神经元特异性基因的沉默需要募集相关的辅阻遏物CoREST，CoREST充当功能性分子信标，用于募集在整个染色体间隔内施加沉默的分子机制，包括本身不包含REST反应元件的转录单位。
