General description

92 kDa
STAT（信号转导因子和转录激活因子）最初被发现的是两个蛋白（STAT1 和STAT2），该蛋白涉及干扰素-α（IFN-α）和IFN-γ信号转导。从此以后，人们鉴定出许多其它的STAT蛋白（STAT3、4、5a、5b和 6）。作为对生长因子和细胞因子信号传导的响应，STAT经历酪氨酸磷酸化。这种磷酸化导致STAT蛋白二聚体化，并转移到细胞核。在一些情况下，该过程受到 JAK激酶（Janus 激酶1、2和3）介导。为了最大程度激活这些蛋白，STAT1α、3、4和5中特定酪氨酸和丝氨酸残基可能需要磷酸化。 对于STAT家族各种成员的特定功能我们理解不足。研究显示STAT3受到IFN-α而不是IFN-β激活。与STAT3有关的转录因子是 c-Jun和cAMP响应性增强子结合蛋白（CREB）。基因敲除小鼠中STAT3 基因的删除在早期胚胎期是致命的。
