This stable-labeled internal standard is suitable for quantiation of morphine levels in urine, serum, or plasma by LC/MS or GC/MS for urine drug testing, pain prescription monitoring, clinical toxicology, forensic analysis, or isotope dilution methods. Morphine is a very potent opiate analgesic drug used to relieve both acute and chronic severe pain. Sold under trade names including MS Contin®, Kadian®, Oramorph®, and Roxanol, morphine is also a commonly abused recreational drug due to its widespread availability and high potential for addiction.

  • The clavicle bone as an alternative matrix in forensic toxicological analysis: This research utilizes Morphine-D₆ as a deuterated internal standard in toxicological analysis of bone matrices, highlighting its role in forensic medicine to ensure accurate and reliable detection of morphine and its metabolites in complex biological samples (Vardakou et al., 2014).

  • The use of the deuterated internal standard for morphine quantitation for the purpose of doping control by gas chromatography with mass-selective detection: This study demonstrates the critical role of Morphine-D₆ in enhancing the precision and accuracy of morphine quantitation in doping control, using gas chromatography-mass spectrometry, thus underscoring its importance in sports medicine and anti-doping research (Savel′eva et al., 2010).
