前列腺素（PGs）属于类花生酸（eicosanoid）类生物化合物，是花生四烯酸代谢过程中形成的氧衍生物。PG位于哺乳动物的每一种组织和体液中。它首先在人类前列腺中被发现，因此得名前列腺素。
应用
前列腺素E1（PGE1）可用于研究其形成银加合物的能力。它也适用于趋化性测定。
生化/生理作用
前列腺素（PG）介导血管舒张和血管收缩，前列腺素E系列是一种高效的血管舒张剂。它有效地引起红斑。PGE1被认为是强效的致热因子（pyretic factor），并通过脑室起作用。它可用于在手术前延长患有导管依赖型先天性心脏病的新生儿的心血管功能。它可用作血管扩张剂。在精子中PGE1显示出孕激素诱导的Ca2 +瞬变。
