Phophotidylcholine (PC) is a glycerophospholipid. It is synthesized in by the CDP-choline pathway or Kennedy pathway. PC is present at higher concentrations in all mammalian cells and organelles.

应用

C16-22:6 PC has been used as a lipid reference standard in matrix assisted laser desorption/ionization- time-of-light (MALDI-TOF) mass spectrometry.

生化/生理作用

Phophotidylcholine (PC) plays a role in cellular and human physiology. It is a housekeeping component that is involved in maintaining the integrity of cell membranes. PC is an essential component for the synthesis of very low density lipoprotein (VLDL) from hepatocytes. It is also implicated in myelinating the nerve cells.
