Cerium(IV) oxide-gadolinium doped nanopowder (10 mol% gadolinium doped) is an electrolytic material with high oxygen-ion conductivity, which operates at low temperatures. It can be prepared by a variety of methods such as sol-gel, wet chemical process, co-precipitation, hydrothermal and other combustion routes.
Gadolinium doped ceria may be prepared by cation complexation sol-gel technique. XRD, specific surface area, morphology has been described in a study. Higher oxygen ion conductivity of GDC over zirconia-based materials makes it a preferable choice for some components of SOFCs.
