亚硝基二磺酸钾是氧化剂，可用于将酚、萘酚和苯胺类化合物氧化为醌，苯甲醇类氧化为醛或酮，氨基酸氧化为α-酮酸。也可用于杂化醌制备和氧化芳构化反应。
