(R)-(−)-香芹酮是一种单萜类化合物。其在气相中的臭氧分解反应已有报道。醛（甲醛）和双自由基为主要产物。它可参与非手性八唑酮的非对映选择性合成。
应用
(R)-(−)-香芹酮可用作合成对映纯(R)-(+)-3-甲基-6-异丙烯基-环庚-3-烯酮-1（一种在萜类化合物合成过程中形成的有用中间体）的起始试剂。它可以用作合成不同保护的（4S，6R，7R）-三羟基-1-辛炔衍生物的起始试剂。
