General description

Benzocaine is a topical anesthetic. It functions as an appetite suppressant and smoke inhibitor. Benzocaine is used to treat pruritus, burns and cold. It is associated with allergic contact dermatitis.[1]

Application

Benzocaine has been used as an anesthetic in cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) flow analysis.[2] It also has been used as an anesthetic in fishes.[3][4][5]
