一般描述
PVRL4（脊髓灰质炎病毒受体相关4）属于一个叫做nectins的细胞粘附分子家族，而nectins又属于免疫球蛋白超家族。它具有胞质尾结构域，单个跨膜结构域和胞外区的三个免疫球蛋白样结构域。由于可变剪接，PVRL4具有两种亚型，其中一种缺乏氨基酸412-436。在人类中，该基因位于染色体1q23。与nectin家族的其他成员不同，PVRL4（也称为nectin-4）主要在胚胎和胎盘中表达。

生化/生理作用
PVRL4（脊髓灰质炎病毒受体相关4）与nectin-1形成同二聚体或异二聚体，以促进细胞粘附。它还促使麻疹病毒在人气道内衬的原发性上皮细胞中的进入和侧向传播。它在多种癌症中高度表达，例如乳腺癌，肺癌和卵巢癌。它对麻疹病毒和在癌症细胞中表达的特异性使其成为一种潜在的溶瘤工具。 PVRL4基因突变与外胚层发育不良-并指综合征（EDSS）相关，该综合征的特征是头发和牙齿异常，脱发和皮肤并指。在EDSS患者的角质形成细胞中，突变的PVRL4无法与nectin-1形成二聚体。它在非小细胞肺癌（NSCLC）中高表达，并与不良预后相关。因此，它可能参与肺癌的肿瘤发生，并具有作为标志物和NSCLC治疗靶标的潜力。
