Gene Information

human ... SLC7A11(23657)

General description

Solute carrier family 7, membrane 11 (SLC7A11), a constituent of the cysteine-glutamate transporter, is located on human chromosome 4q28.31. It belongs to the system xc- light chain family. SLC7A11 gene codes for the cystine-glutamate antiporter Xct.

Immunogen

Synthetic 19 amino acid peptide from N-terminus of human SLC7A11. Percent identity with other species by BLAST analysis: Human, Gorilla, Orangutan, Gibbon (100%); Monkey, Marmoset (95%); Horse (89%); Rat, Dog, Hamster (84%).

Application

Anti-SLC7A11 antibody has been used in western blot analysis.

Biochem/physiol Actions

Solute carrier family 7, membrane 11 (SLC7A11) or xCT participates in glutathione homeostasis, that helps to guard the cells against oxidative stress. It is involved in the pathogenesis of malignant tumors. SLC7A11 is associated with triple negative breast cancer and glioblastoma (GBM).
