Gene Information

human ... HHIP(64399)

General description

The gene encoding HHIP (hedgehog interacting protein) is located on human chromosome 4 and encodes for a protein belonging to the hedgehog-interacting protein (HHIP) family.

Immunogen

Recombinant fragment corresponding to a region within amino acids 263 and 554 of HHIP (Uniprot ID#Q96QV1)

Application

Suggested starting dilutions are as follows: ICC/IF: 1:100-1:1000, IHC-P: 1:100-1:1000, WB: 1:500-1:3000. Not yet tested in other applications. Optimal working dilutions should be determined experimentally by the end user.

Biochem/physiol Actions

Hedgehog interacting protein (HHIP) is highly conserved and interacts with all the three HH family members namely SHH (sonic hh), IHH (indian hh) and DHH (desert hh). It is also a vertebrate-specific inhibitor of HH signaling. Single nucleotide polymorphisms in the HHIP gene are associated with increase in the risk of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).

Hedgehog interacting protein (HHIP) was implicated in chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) by genome-wide association studies (GWAS). However, it remains unclear how HHIP contributes to COPD pathogenesis. To identify genes regulated by HHIP, we performed gene expression microarray analysis in
