General description

The guanine nucleotide binding protein β3 (GNB3) gene is composed of 11 exons and 10 introns. It is the 3 subunit of heterotrimeric G-proteins located on human chromosome 12p13.

Immunogen

Peptide with sequence SGHDNRVSCLGVT, from the internal region of the protein sequence according to NP_002066.1, NP_067642.1

Biochem/physiol Actions

Guanine nucleotide binding protein 3 (GNB3) is involved in the conversion of external receptor activation signals into intracellular signals and it plays an important role in signal transduction pathways. It modulates and associates with favorable antidepressant response. GNB3 takes part in a variety of cellular processes like G protein-coupled receptor signaling.
