What is the fidelity of Taq DNA Polymerase?
The error rates for polymerases are more accurately presented in terms of ranges since the actual fidelity is condition dependent. The error rate of standard Taq, as reported in the literature, is in a range of 1 in 1.1 × 104 (Tindall, K.R., and Kunkel, T.A., Biochemistry, 27, 6008-6013 (1988)) to 1 in 2.0 × 105 (Lundberg, K.S., Shoemaker, D.D., Adams, M.W., Short, J.M., Sorge, J.A.and Mathur, E.J., Gene, 108(1), 1-6 (1991)). These values would apply to this product.
Can Product P2893, JumpStart™ Taq ReadyMix™, be used in real-time PCR?
Yes. The mixture does not contain any internal reference dye, though. D7440 comes with a vial of our internal reference dye, R4526, which can also be purchased separately.
Can PCR products made with Product P2893, JumpStart™ Taq ReadyMix™, be used for TA cloning?
Yes, this enzyme does not have 3'-5' exonuclease activity, so there will be 3'A overhangs available for this type of cloning approach.
Can Product P2893, JumpStart™ Taq ReadyMix™, be used with Bio-Rad real-time PCR machines?
Yes. Bio-Rad's real-time instruments typically require fluorescein as an internal reference dye. We have fluorescein as product F6377 (Fluorescein, sodium salt).
