General description

The Perfect Combination of Low Bleed, Thermal Stability, and Easy Puncturability!

Molded Thermogreen LB-2 septa are manufactured from high quality, low bleed material using the same exclusive LB-2 rubber formulation that chromatographers are accustomed to using. The difference is that molded septa, unlike traditional die-cut septa, offer easier installation and better sealing inside the injection port. This is because our liquid injection molding process ensures that every septum conforms to the same shape with crisp, clean sides. This is an improvement over a die-cutting process where septa can become cupped and/or distorted when the cutting surface becomes dull.

The useable inlet temperature range of 100-350 °C is adequate for most GC applications. Don′t be fooled by other septa that advertise a maximum temperature of 400 °C! Tto make septa with high thermal limits, they must be made stiffer, resulting in septa that are harder to pierce and easier to core! Our molded Thermogreen LB-2 septa offer the perfect combination of low bleed, thermal stability, and easy puncturability.
  • Rubber formulation exclusive to Supelco
  • Strict tolerances (diameter, thickness, injection hole) due to constant dimension of the mold itself
  • Ultra low bleed over a wide range of inlet temperatures (100 °C to 350 °C)
  • No foreign substances/powders (which could contaminate the inlet) are used during manufacturing
  • Fully tested for bleed and contamination
  • Already conditioned, ready to use
  • Ideal for use with low bleed GC-MS columns

Other Notes

Traditional solid discs are suitable for use with manual injections.

  1. Which document(s) contains shelf-life or expiration date information for a given product?

If available for a given product, the recommended re-test date or the expiration date can be found on the Certificate of Analysis.

  2. How do I get lot-specific information or a Certificate of Analysis?

The lot specific COA document can be found by entering the lot number above under the "Documents" section.

  3. What's so special about Molded Thermogreen LB-2 Septa?

Many consider the traditional Thermogreen LB-2 septa as the benchmark for low bleed GC septa. Rubber formulation exclusive to Supelco "Often mimicked, never duplicated" Now, the best septa formulation is offered in a molded design.

  4. What are the benefits of Molded Thermogreen LB-2 Septa over die-cut septa?

Every septum conforms to the same mold shape with crisp, clean sides, resulting in easier installation and better sealing.

  5. What are the benefits of molded Thermogreen LB-2 septa over other molded septa?

These septa have several benefits.· The exclusive rubber formulation provides ultra low bleed over a wide range of inlet temperatures (100 °C to 350 °C).· No foreign substances or powders (which could contaminate the inlet) are used during manufacturing.· All septa are fully tested for bleed and contamination.· All septa are pre-conditioned, therefore, they are ready to use.· They are ideal for use with low bleed GC-MS columns.

  6. I see two versions of Molded Thermogreen LB-2 Septa are offered. How do I know which version to use for my application?

The versions are designed as follows:· The version with an injection hole is designed for customers who use autosamplers. This version is also suited for users of solid phase microextraction (SPME).o A dimpled center guides the needle through the septa.o Allows needle penetration through the same location, time after time.o Reduces septum coring, preventing septum fragments from entering the injection port.o Have a high puncture tolerance and long life.· The version without an injection hole is designed for customers who do not use autosamplers.

  7. Would you recommend molded Thermogreen LB-2 septa for all applications?

Yes. These are superior in all areas to die-cut septa as well as molded septa from other manufacturers.

  8. I see the Molded Thermogreen LB-2 Septa have a maximum temperature of 350 °C, whereas some septa from other manufacturers list 400 °C. Why would I want septa with a lower maximum temperature?

Higher temperature does not relate to higher quality when discussing GC septa.· To make septa with a higher temperature, they need to be stiffer. This makes them harder to puncture, resulting in shorter life.· GC users typically do not use an injection port temperature above 350 °C. We choose to make softer septa that result in easier penetration, less coring, and long life.

  9. Where can I get additional information about Molded Thermogreen LB-2 Septa?

Please see the product information sheet (under Documents, above).
